There’s nothing wrong with wanting to squeeze more profits out of international audiences, and out of young men, who seem pretty comfortably served themselves by blockbusters’ takeover of Hollywood. “ Women Are Half Of Video Gamers, So Where Are The Female Video Game Characters? ” (June, 2013) – by Alyssa Rosenberg for Think Progress – “For some reason, rationality and the profit motive don’t seem to apply to women and people of color when it comes to the entertainment industry. She got hate for voicing her opinion and this article discusses that and serves up more truths about Grand Theft Auto’s misogynistic habits. “ Game Reviewer Does Her Job by Pointing Out Sexism in GTA 5, Is Pilloried for It ” (September, 2013) – by Fruzsina Eördögh for Medium – Carolyn Petit reviewed GTA V and offered up some (much needed) criticism to a game that plenty of people think is perfect. “ Idea Factory addresses fans’ Monster Monpiece censorship concerns ” (January, 2014) – by Jenna Pitcher for Polygon – The game mechanic that caused the censorship seems really gross and weirdly sexual to me but with that, I think this provides some interesting insight on how censorship works in Japan, America and Europe.
